We recently purchased a home in the Pedasí area and decided to work with a realtor to help us navigate the process. We found Tedd and Panama Sovereign almost by chance through WhatsApp, and looking back, we were incredibly lucky we did.

After discussing our budget, preferred locations, style of home, and everything else that goes into finding the right property, Tedd listened carefully and showed us three properties that were excellent fits for what we were looking for. Two of those properties were Tedd’s listings, and in the end, we chose one of them.

One thing worth mentioning is that we have purchased several homes over our lifetimes, and finding a realtor who truly listens to your budget and preferences — and then actually shows you properties that fit those requirements — is rarer than it should be. Tedd absolutely did that.

Even though Tedd was representing the sellers, he handled the entire transaction with exceptional professionalism and fairness from beginning to end.

As foreigners buying property in Panama for the first time, we were navigating unfamiliar territory — language barriers, attorneys, inspections, utilities, and all the many details involved in an international real estate purchase. Tedd connected us with trustworthy professionals every step of the way and made what could have been an overwhelming process much more manageable.

This particular sale involved a fair amount of back-and-forth and some challenging moments, but throughout the process Tedd remained calm, neutral, and solution-oriented. At no point did we feel like we were “on the other side of the deal.” He worked hard to keep communication constructive and to ensure the process stayed fair for everyone involved.

We met with Jonathan while visiting Casco Viejo in Panama, and I was immediately impressed. As a real estate professional from the States, and also a real estate investor, I struggle to find real estate brokers that I want to work with. I could tell from the start that Panama Sovereign Realty has its thumb on the Panamanian real estate market.

Jonathan helped me understand the neighborhoods of Panama City by going over the pros and cons of each area. He took the time to ask me questions about what is important to me when it comes to relocating from the United States to Panama.  He asked me about my hobbies and quickly honed in on how important looking for real estate near the Cinta Costera would be for me.

Jonathan went into great detail about other locations like Costa del Este, Punta Pacifica, the Ocean Reef Islands, and while I loved Casco Viejo the most, the better fit for me was an area with newer buildings like Ave Balboa.

Panama Sovereign Real Estate invested considerable time with me right from the start. It was catered to my needs and desires. I felt that I was working with a team that was knowledgeable about the local market conditions and knew the areas like the back of their hands.

I truly wish I had started the conversation with Jonathan and his team before I traveled to Panama, it would have been helpful to have his expertise to do some research before I left home. I didn’t do this because I was feeling overwhelmed with trying to understand all the many choices of real estate available in Panama City. While I’m grateful to have found his office right in the heart of Casco Viejo in Panama, I know from experience that you don’t always get the most experienced and dedicated real estate professionals by chance.

One of the team members took me to see some luxury penthouse condominiums within steps of the Cinta Costera, and we had a chance to see some beautiful properties and explore all the amenities within each of those buildings.

Jonathan was also incredibly good at helping us to understand the investment opportunities and how they relate to the visa programs, and he took the time to explain and break all that information down for me in person, even though it’s all available on their website.

Tedd Tennis assisted us in finding and purchasing our home in Pedasi. He was incredibly patient- I had many questions. He was effective in crafting a deal with the seller that was mutually acceptable. We were initially provided with a reference to Panama Sovereign Realty and specifically Tedd Tennis by friends of ours that we know well and who have been living in the Pedasi area for years. We had heard a lot about the area and were thinking of purchasing a property there for our family. When my oldest son and I finally made it down there Tedd was away, but he made sure that we were very well taken care of by a bright young realtor named Elvin Vega. Elvin was excellent, as he is born and raised in Panama and has lived in Pedasi for over 15 years. He knows all of the local knowledge, the ins and outs, for the entire area, and he has a great sense of humour. After showing us every type of property imaginable we were very well informed and capable of deciding on the one we wanted to purchase. We returned a few weeks later with my wife and youngest son to confirm the property to be purchased and even though it meant taking us back to many of the same properties Elvin had the same enthusiasm as the previous time around. Once the property was chosen, Tedd took over and introduced us personally to local legal representation (as he represented the Seller) who is critical in the process and also to his own personal home builder who we have now contracted with to build our residence. The personal touch in Panama is incredibly important as it puts you at ease with the purchasing process, opening bank accounts, and the contract negotiation, all of which may be different than what you are used to/ language barriers/etc. Everything flowed as smoothly as it could have and we very much appreciate the excellent service and continuing assistance that we have been provided by Panama Sovereign Realty.

When I decided to sell one of my parcels of land in 2022 I didn’t know any Realtors so I asked some friends of mine in Pedasi and Venao who they recommended and consistently they said for me to call Sovereign Realty. On a Friday Jonathan and Tedd came to our home to discuss marketing it for sale. We talked about market cycles and pricing the property for a quick sale…not a fire sale, but a fair sale that left us, the sellers, feeling whole and that would entice a qualified buyer to see the value and move quickly. Two days later Jonathan and Tedd had each confirmed showings for Monday. We received detailed feedback within an hour of each showing from each agent regarding their clients’ reactions to the property.
That same night we received a full price offer on our home. This took place in just four days! But the work was not done. There are so many legal items to gather and tie together in a property sale and timing is everything. With the knowledge, experience and professionalism of the PSR team we were covered. They took care of communications between attorneys and acquiring Paz y salvos for our closing. They also attended us at the closing.

We made a trip to Pedasi that was a combination of holiday and exploration for the possibility of purchasing of a vacation/retirement property.  We met with Jonathan Clay who listened to our ideas and needs for a home in Pedasi.  He was very knowledgable about the local environment, and gave excellent advice on how to proceed.  We did not immediately find a resale home to suit our needs, but Jonathan then suggested land for sale for a new build, that was perfect. Three Month update….. Panama, Pedasi, and Panama Sovereign Realty continue to surprise and delight our family. Here is the story from yesterday… My neighbor got his ATV vehicle stuck in a river bed near the beach while doing some nature exploring. He called me to help. While driving out to help recover the vehicle I bumped into Jonathan Clay from PSR. I explained the situation in passing. Jonathan proceeded to hop in his 4x4 and help rescue and recover my neighbor. He didn’t ask or waiver. Jonathan literally jumped in the river to help. I am so impressed with Jonathan Clay, Panama Sovereign Realty and the citizens of Panama. Everyone came together to help a foreign person out. Nobody expected anything in return. Everyone was unhurt and safe the vehicles were recovered in a fast manner due to all the locals helping out. Other countries could learn a lot about service and caring for others.

Moving is stressful and exciting. Moving to a foreign country where one isn't fluent in the local language can be even more challenging.
Jonathan and Tedd at Panama Sovereign Realty helped us make the move to Panama so much easier. Their knowledge, transparency, and patience really helped our family find a great house. In an awesome location.
Through the ups and downs of the pandemic, the changing laws and mask guidelines, Jonathan always had good acturate information that helped us make sound confident decisions.

Almost five years ago, he took my husband and I around Pedasi and other communities endlessly, while looking for our dream retirement home  - many times back to the same property, patiently.   He pointed out the local cayman’s hideaway in a local river, and took us to the beach in our new 4-wheel drive truck to show us how to extricate ourselves from the sand.
He  allowed us to follow him to a key maker in Chitre (about 50-55” away) to help us get a new key for said truck.  This was so helpful as our Spanish was non-existent at that time.
